Mayerthorpe has 1,700 residents,and is on the Paddle River near the Paddle River Dam. It is strategically located at the crossroads of Highway 22 and Highway 43, between Edmonton and Whitecourt on the southern stretch of the Alaska Highway. The town is only 75 minutes from Edmonton, and just 3 hours from Jasper. The town is home to Hog Wild, a wild boar farm which offers a wild boar hunting experience.
