Morinville is 30 km north of Edmonton on Highway 2. With a population of 6,255, Morinville is a healthy business and residential community close to both St. Albert and Edmonton. The town is the municipal and commercial centre of the Municipal District of Sturgeon.

Morinville Historical and Cultural Centre
This 100 room building, built in 1909, contains period rooms complete with artifacts. The cultural centre is open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by appointment.

St. Jean Baptiste Church

Father St. Jean Baptiste Morin brought the first German and French settlers to the area and built the original chapel in 1891. The chapel was replaced with the current church in 1907, which features a 1925 Casavant pipe organ and a mural depicting the life of St. Jean Baptiste.
