Millet was named in honor of August Millet, a canoeist for Father Lacombe, and became a village in 1903. In October 1927, a disastrous fire destroyed most of the buildings along the east side of Railway Street, and the businesses were rebuilt across the street. In 1983, Millet was declared a Town.
